Step-down transformer for rental, events, and industry: 1600W continuous, 230V to 110V, 1.2 mm steel housing.

1600W continuous, 2000W maximum load

The SD 1600 delivers 1600W continuous load for large power tools, professional lighting, and stage equipment. Up to 2000W is available for load phases of up to 15 minutes.

230V to 110V — step-down transformer only

The step-down transformer converts 230V input to 110V output and runs American 110V professional equipment on the local 230V supply. Conversion is step-down only.

EU or UK input, 2× US Type B outlets

The SD 1600 ships with an IEC cable for Schuko (Type F) or a UK plug (Type G). Two American outlets (Type B) output 110V for US 110V equipment.

Frequently asked questions

Does the SD 1600 deliver 1600W continuously?

Yes. The SD 1600 delivers 1600W continuous load, meaning operation beyond 15 minutes.

The maximum of 2000W is available for short load phases of up to 15 minutes, such as when a large power tool starts. For continuous operation, size for 1600W.

Does the SD 1600 also convert from 110V to 230V?

No. The SD 1600 is a step-down transformer only and converts 230V to 110V.

As a 110V transformer it runs American 110V professional equipment on the European 230V supply. Step-up conversion from 110V to 230V is not supported.

Does the SD 1600 also convert the frequency from 50 to 60 Hz?

No. The SD 1600 converts voltage from 230V to 110V, not frequency.

The output frequency matches the input frequency (50/60 Hz). For frequency-critical equipment you need a frequency converter.

Does the SD 1600 have a soft-starter?

No. The SD 1600 does not need a soft-starter.

The iron core uses a construction that already reduces inrush current by design. Large power tools and lighting can be switched on without tripping the breaker.

1.2 mm steel housing

The SD 1600 housing is made of 1.2 mm steel and weighs 8.8 kg. It is built for daily use as a site transformer in rental, event, and industrial settings where gear is moved every day. On a construction site, film set, or festival the converter withstands repeated load and frequent transport. The steel housing protects the core during rough handling in mobile use.

Protection on primary and output side

The primary side is protected by a resettable circuit breaker (8A, 230V). Each of the two output sockets is individually fused (15A, 110V, up to 1650W per socket). Protection acts on both levels — input and individual socket. After an overload you reset the breaker without changing a fuse, and operation continues.
